Erasers USB Stick

Maybe I can’t get over “A Moment To Remember” that’s why this device appeals to me so much: Alzheimer’s New Zealand: Eraser USB stick.

I can remember Kim Su-Jin saying that she has an eraser in her hand. :)

I wish to have this one but I think this is available for New Zealanders only. Interesting product! This is actual working eraser but was hollowed out and fitted with USB memory stick. Double purpose. Most of all, it promotes the awareness campaign for Alzheimer’s disease.

I have once posted the sad and touching story of a grandma (Going Home: Perfect Portrait of Grandma’s Love) with this kind of disease. And the movie “A Moment to Remember” and “The Notebook” are other examples.

PC Repair

So many tasks, so little time...

As you can see, I rarely update this blog though I have a lot of things to say. Gahhhhhh! Working in an IT company makes me suffer with information overload syndrome at times. Haha. Oh, I love this technical field! Because of that, I have to think of another way to introduce this blog to the blogosphere. Thanks to BC Bloggers, batch four is now open so I am grabbing this chance to be part of this group.

Problem: Network Adapter Not Installed and Configured

My colleague reformatted the Vista Business computer on our shared workstation and when I tried to go online, “The page can’t be displayed”. I thought it was just a proxy setting but after further troubleshooting I found out that the “network adapter is not installed and configured”. Manual installation by browsing the CD content and backup files won’t do the trick so it leaves me not connected to the Internet.

Save yourselves from the hassle of searching for solutions online. Google is not that reliable at times. Using another computer, head to Dell Support Homepage if you are using a Dell computer (obviously).

1. Enter your PC’s service tag or select the model. (Take note, it is not advisable to click on “Find My Service Tag” since you will be using another PC).

First Step: Select the accurate model.

2. Confirm the model of your computer.

Experience convenience with Q300!

I’d like to grab one if only I haven’t purchased a C50 Curve yet. Techie Liz is getting impulsive once again. But I’d like to hear and read reviews of this cellphone unit first.

Flickering Screen Caused by Windows 7 Update

Windows Update took more than 20 minutes?!

Virus Attacked Google?

Today’s Google logo instills fear and confusion to few non-computer-savvy customers. As a matter of fact, I have witnessed one incident a while ago wherein after remotely connecting to the client’s  PC, there’s nothing but…

Okay, let me show it to you.

Pac-man

Oh no! I can hear freakin' sound and the virus is eating my homepage!

Note: This is not a virus. Just celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pac-man. So go ahead and play to you heart’s content. I have posted this Google-Man-Cool-Stuff already on SWORD. Seems that it did not reach the other part of the word. That logo is playable, you may use your mouse or keyboard. And yes, you may hear that familiar sound again.

Removing PE_Sality Infection

Now my desktop is clean! Good job!

PE-Sality

Virus Found!

Actually, the virus that infected my desktop at home (because my siblings use it and I have my own personal laptop) took months before it was completely removed. I ran several AV software and tools to no success.
How did I know that the PC is still infected after reformatting the hard drives (and backing it up)
1. Registry editor is disabled
2. Task manager is disabled
3. Can not safely remove removable drives
4. Most executable files won’t run
5. Can’t visit security websites

I was about to escalate this case when suddenly there was a minor outbreak of PE_Sality infection and here comes a resolution! Free.

First, what is PE_Sality infection which has so many variants? They have damaged infection caused by the malware file itself. This damage infection makes the virus and host file un-executable and also the host unrestorable. These files cannot infect other files but must be replaced with clean backup copies.

What I did to end my PC’s suffering?
I run Sysclean for PE_Sality courtesy of Trend Micro. Click either of the two links for instructions on how to download and use the PE Sality Fixtool.
