To set a password on your wifi network, simply follow the steps below:
1. Connect to the internet through your WiFi.
2. Check the IP Address your your router. If you’re not sure simply follow these steps:
a. Click Start.
b. Click Run.
c. Type cmd. Press Enter on your keyboard.
d. On the black screen type: ipconfig
e. Press Enter.
f. IP Addresss is the default gateway shown.
3. Open Internet Explorer (or any internet browser you are using) and type that IP Address on the address bar:
You will see a page like this:
The navigation bar is on the left side.
4. Click Wireless on the left-hand menu.
5. Click on the dropdown menu for Encryption. Select WPA2.
7. For Pre-Shared Key Format, choose Passphrase on the dropdown menu.
8. Type your desired Wifi network password on the Pre-Shared Key box. Click Apply Changes.
9. To set password on your admin page, click Management on the left sidebar.
10. Fill up the required fields and click Apply Changes.

Hi, is it possible to limit the number of devices that can connect to your wifi or to be invisible to other devices? I tried not broadcasting the SSID but still it shows as available connections.. In other words, what I want is to limit the availability of the network.. Hope you can help, thanks in advance..
The best way is to password-protect it. That way, even if it is visible, they won’t be able to connect if they don’t have the passkey.

hi, im using cdr king router, model LP-8186 for more than 3 yrs now.. with no password protection.. following your instructions when i entered the IP address on the internet browser it was asking for a username and password.. may i asked what is the default user name and password for the IP address? i already tried both “admin” as password and username.. it won’t work.

First time setting up? Because if it’s for initial setup, you should see the screen as exactly shown in the images in this post.

hi po,,tulungan nio naman po ako sa cdr king router ko..bakit ganun kapag linalagyan ko ng password or kahit papalitan ko lang ung nama=e ng router eh nawwalan ng connection..at saka patulong naman po,,ung step by step talaga ,,kung alin ung chechekan at alin ung ieeedit..
Hi, if same model po, the instructions here should work kasi yun na pinakadetailed. That’s the most I can do kasi I took those screenshots and noted those steps when I setup my cousin’s router.

Restart or refresh refresh lang po. Or baka di properly installed yung cdrking.

hello po tanong ko lang kung pano maglagay ng password ito po yung ip address 192.168.1.1 dd-wrt po yung router naghahanap sya ng USERNAME saka PASSWORD? ano po ba dapat ilagay kasi sinubukan ko na ADMIN ang ilagay pareho pero ayaw po gumana.
It’s either admin, admin or password. Pag by default eh wala, then setup ka na nag username and password kasi you should have access to management/setup page.
